Alice of Africa was created after a few rather haphazard attempts at making a doll for my daughter…which led to the perfectionist in me adamant to design the very best doll I could!

I source high quality fabrics, and natural fibres such as pure hand felted wool for shoes. I work a lot with bamboo, linens and pure cotton. I think that children should love the feel of hugging their doll; there’s such a difference in the way quality fabrics feel compared to cheaper subsitutes. Materials are sourced locally where possible.

Alice of Africa dolls are also twice stitched around their bodies for extra strength and they are firmly stuffed.

I work with up to 4 skin tone fabrics depending on availability, as well as different hair colours, styles and lengths. I love that I can reflect the diversity of South Africa in my dolls.

As a general safety precaution I recommend that, until children are aged 3, the dolls are to be used as nursery decor items or under supervised play.

10% of every sale goes to Zanethemba Charity Foundation, a local organisation which is a temporary safe care facility for children ages 0-6 years who have been abused, abandoned or neglected.

I feel a doll can play such a wonderful part in developing imaginative play, sharing pretend adventures and making special memories. I love creating dolls that can be cherished and even kept in the family as an heirloom keepsake.
