Our founder – Genevieve Ramos, is a qualified dietitian by profession, who works mainly with premature babies in a neonatal ICU. The concept of Valara, an infant and baby clothing range, is inspired by the many hours spent working with the babies and getting to know their little characters personally.
What does Valara mean?
Valara is derived from the French word ‘Valerie,’ which originates from the Latin word meaning strong and brave.
Our name is to honour the premature babies, who are some of the strongest and bravest little people we know.
We are an online store based in Johannesburg and our items are couriered nationwide. At Valara we have 2 main values – quality over quantity and supporting local.
Each item is made to order and undergoes strict quality checks before being couriered. All our items are designed and manufactured in South Africa with materials that are locally sourced.
